Freelance JA-to-EN translating for agencies is ending.

Because the vast majority of agency-dependent freelancers (1) will not be getting translation work from AI-using translation agencies (something that is well underway) and (2) will not be able to acquire non-AI using clients (direct clients, at least for now), I have ceased writing new things and deleted already-written things that might lead translators and students to believe that there is a career possible by translating for agencies.

There is not, and I will not continue trying to dissuade translators from the delusions that abound among freelancers, particularly the totally wrong claim that “AI will not replace us!” It has already replaced large numbers of freelance tranlators, the great majority of whom haven’t got a clue as to what would be necessary to survive and, in fact, don’t have what is necessary to survive the AI transformation of the translation business.

More details, including some details of things I have written but deleted, available on my company’s parent website.
