Pretenders to the Throne

I am an occasional user of AI for research tasks, although some traditional search engines now annoyingly present AI results first, at least as the default.

You might also see me use AI for an occasional website-related task.

Since I’m a translator, however, you won’t find me using AI to translate for clients.

That said, the world outside of what I consider to be my sane fortress of minimal, moderate, and informed use of AI appears to be suffering from an acute and counterproductive fear of missing out, self-servingly induced by the AI broligarchs who have discarded their moral compass in their quest for wealth and control.

The world they envision for themselves is predicated on their ability to steal information with impunity and suck dry the very souls of the people to whom they promise an AI-intermediated utopia, and this is going on and will continue without any annoying accountability getting in the way.

AI has its uses, but too many people are allowing themselves to be drugged and then raped by the pretenders to the throne of the promised AI utopia. Yes, I’m victim-blaming. It’s time for sane people of character to back out and back away. The real world is intrinsically not the world according to the latest AI model, not today, and not ever.
