KIRAMEKI

The Founder of Kirameki Translations, Inc.William Anthony Lise

Lise comes from an engineering background and has extensive experience in providing translation and interpreting for a wide spectrum of clients.

After his first encounter with Japan decades ago, he returned to the US, obtained a degree in electrical engineering (BSEE from Drexel University), and joined what was then Western Electric, working in that company's millimeter waveguide and fiber optics laboratories.

Lise subsequently established and ran the Japan branch of a US manufacturer of electronic test and measurement products.

He then pivoted to translation as a full-time activity. Almost all of his translation work has been technical translation, typical work including such things as:

  • Extensive translation of documents for industrial products and services, including semiconductors, mobile communications equipment, and frequency analysis equipment.
  • Translation of patent documents for medical analysis systems and centralized infrastructure (power grid) control systems.
  • Translation of documentation for the backend software functionality of online social games.

Lise was a founding member and subsequent multi-term president of Japanese Association of Translators. He established the forerunner of Kirameki Translations, Inc., the current incarnation of which continues to provide Japanese-to-English translation for industry and legal matters.

Lise is not only an accomplished Japanese-to-English translator, but also one of the few native English-speaking litigation interpreters in Japan with both an engineering background and industry experience.
