Lise Presentation at the IJET-8 Conference

Symbols, Abbreviations, and Layout Issues in J-E Translation

William Lise

My IJET-8 presentation paper deals with problems that continue to plague JA-EN translators not familiar with bogus style elements and aspects of Japanese, some that mimic English style, but only poorly. It is preserved as a scanned version of the original. It has apparently been deleted or lost from the JAT website, and it is very unlikely that it will be found and restored.

Although these deceptive style problems occur often in documents translated mostly these days by translation agencies using AI, some of the topics discussed might be useful to post-editors.
