Lise Presentation at the IJET-5 Conference
Urayasu, Japan May 24-29, 1994
organized by Japan Association of TranslatorsAn Investigation of Terminology and Syntax in Japanese and US Patents and the Implications for the Patent Translator
This is a slightly edited version of my presentation at the IJET-5 Conference in Urayasu (Chiba). I suspect that most of my observations would hold up today, but it would be interesting to see if that is actually the case.
Regardless of whether they hold up today, however, the adoption of AI to translate patents renders the result of such studies of perhaps only academic interest or perhaps of interest to people employing AI to further move away from humans to translate patent documents, a movement that is well underway.
